I had a pretty important exhibition last week. My show “you, me, and everything in-between” composed of forty-eight pieces of my work opened at ArtSpace. On Thursday, I met with the San Diego art critic Lauren Buscemi for a formal critique of the work. I was a little nervous as to what to expect since I hadn’t had a formal critique since graduate school (and we all know how painful those can be). I very much enjoyed the one-on-one time with Lauren (I’m happy to say that she enjoyed the work very much) and I look forward to her published critique. Once published, I’ll make sure it makes its way to the blog.
I have updated the website with the new work, so be sure to visit and take a look.
Here are links to two videos taken by the staff at artspace. The first video is Lauren’s public critique of the exhibition. The second video is Lauren’s talk addressing the role of critic and critique within the art world.
The exhibition and critique took place on my 30th birthday. All-in-all, it wasn’t a bad way to end my 20’s.
