It’s been a little over a month since the last post, so I’ll fill you in on what’s happened since last time.
I’ve completed 46 new pieces this year. I’m pretty excited about the rate of production. For those of you who follow my progress on Facebook (Joshua Chambers : Art) or Instagram (jchambers), you know that a few of the pieces are on panel, but most of those 46 have been the small cut paper pieces. I plan to exhibit a large group of them in Bossier City in May. If you can’t wait till then to see them in person there are two already at Graphite Gallery in New Orleans, or you can always schedule a private viewing at my studio.
Two of my paintings (one on panel and one on paper) will be on exhibit in Identification in the Target Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria Virginia. Identification is an all-media self-portrait exhibition exploring alternative definitions of self through the juxtaposition of the artists’ objective and subjective identities. The Juror is Dara Engler.
The 51st Annual Juried Competition at the Masur Museum of Art is still on display, and will be until June. If you are in the area you should stop by and check it out. I plan to go take a look soon.
Graphite Galleries in New Orleans was featured in an article on The Culture Trip (.com). The article is title: The Culture Lover’s Guide to New Orleans: The 10 Best Contemporary Art Galleries. It’s a great list to be on, and I happen to be one of the four artists mentioned at Graphite Galleries.
Here are the pieces that I have completed since last time:
